our setting
In the latter half of the 20th century East Kilbride grew from a rural Lanarkshire village to become Scotland's sixth largest town. Today East Kilbride, located close to Glasgow and the main motorway routes, and with Scotland 's largest undercover shopping centre, is a central base for business, a great place to live, shop, work and play, and an ideal jumping-off location for touring many exciting locations in Scotland.
East Kilbride is South Lanarkshire's largest town. Its location and good infrastructure make it easily accessible from the motorway network, with most of central Scotland within a 45-minute drive.
Industry is located in a number of peripheral business parks, while the town’s commercial and administrative areas are home to offices of central and local government. Freescale Semiconductors (formerly Motorola), Rolls Royce, Jeyes, the Inland Revenue, Coca Cola Enterprises, Hairmyres Hospital and the Department for International Development are some of the town’s largest employers. Add a Strathclyde Police training centre on the outskirts, at Jackton – and you’ll realise why the Holiday Inn Glasgow - East Kilbride plays host to so many business travellers, meetings, conferences and events in central Scotland.
Visit East Kilbride's picturesque Village - wander through the cobbled streets for a range of specialist shops with friendly service and a personal touch - visit one of the tearooms or fabulous restaurants - pamper yourself in the hair and beauty salons - a great little shopping experience away from the rush of the busy Town Centre malls.
