If golf is your desire, then you are ‘close to heaven’ , with many delightful and challenging golf courses nearby, and the championship and famous Ayrshire links of Royal Troon, Prestwick and Turnberry not far away either. - East Kilbride Golf Club – at Glasgow Road exit from East Kilbride. Lovely parkland course with variable topography. 18 holes 6419 yards. S.S.S. 71.
- Torrance House Golf club – at East Kilbride boundary on main Strathaven road. Fine parkland course. 18 holes 6423 yards. S.S.S. 71. Practice area.
- Strathaven Golf Club (5 miles) – arguably one of the finest parkland courses in the west of Scotland. On the A726 near the outskirts of town heading towards East Kilbride. Strathaven GC is an 18-hole course, which is spread out over 6226 yards.
- Cathkin Braes Golf Club (4 miles) – fine moorland course. 18 holes 6208 yards. S.S.S. 71. Practice ground.
- Bonnyton Golf Club (5 miles) – lovely Moorland course off the B764. 18 holes 6252 yards. S.S.S. 71.
- Whitecraigs golf club (6 miles) – superb course on the A77 two miles from Eastwoodmains roundabout. Parkland course. 18 holes 6013 yards. S.S.S. 70.
- Cathcart Castle Golf Club (6 miles) - off the A726. The golf course is a par 69 and measures 5861 yds from the medal tees. It is situated on undulating parkland, and provides a excellent test of golf. The picturesque surroundings offer superb views to the north west and the City of Glasgow
- Williamwood Golf Club (6 miles) - Attractive parkland course designed by James Braid. 18 holes 5878 yards. S.S.S. 69. Practice area and putting.
- East Renfrewshire Golf Club (8 miles) - one and a half miles south of Newton Mearns. Moorland course with plantations of evergreen trees. The course today is largely to the original Braid layout although lengthened over the years to now stand as a challenging par 70 of 6097 yards. S.S.S. 70
- Eastwood Golf Club (8 miles) - Originally a moorland course but redesigned with modern USGA-style greens in 2003. 18 holes 6071 yards. S.S.S. 70. Practice area.
