Strathclyde Country Park
Strathclyde Country Park is a leading Scottish centre for outdoor recreation. Close to the industrial centres of Scotland the park lies in 1100 acres of countryside in the valley of the River Clyde. Acres of mature woodland, rough wetland, wildlife refuges and open parkland - surrounding Strathclyde Loch - the focal point for many of the park's activities.
For the water sports enthusiast, enjoy Rowing, Windsurfing, Dinghy sailing, Canoeing, Water Ski-ing. Craft are available for hire or you can bring your own. For fun there are Rowing Boats, Bumper Boats, Wave Boats, Boat Trips, Canadian Canoes.
Land Sports are served by a well equipped sports pavilion - the park caters for: Football, Hockey, Jogging, Horse Riding, Coarse Angling, Wayfaring, Orienteering, Cross Country Running, (Angling on day permits £2.20 per day)
Footpath & Nature Trails with miles of footpaths through dense woodlands, wetlands, and open parkland - plus the long distance Clyde Walkway Scheme.
Historical Features including Bothwellhaugh, a Roman Fort & Bathhouse, Orbiston Tower House and the Site of the Battle of Bothwell Bridge.
Wildlife Refuges provide breeding sites and refuge for more than 150 different species of wild animals and birds.
Guided Walks are provided all year round by members of the Park Ranger Service.
The park is also home to Scotland's first theme park M & Ds - It has now over 48 major rides and attractions - including a series of daredevil rides and roller coasters. M&Ds is open from March to November - opening times vary.
